In the first place, why would one have an affair if one love his/her spouse?.. an affair is not a short term thingy... it involves relationship.... yes.. it is wrong and to some point, unforgiveable...
one probably still love his/her spouse during an affair... as it could due to their less fulfilling sex life... as i believe sex seems to be a main cause for the guy's side for an affair...
another reason is probably the affection they have for the other party in the affair... somethings their wives or husbands do not possess, that 10% they have been looking for...
sit down..have a talk... good to talk then ignore an affair... do not shout or finger point... listen first though it is hard...

I think that cheating is a reflection of the cheater. The cheated on has little to do with the affair. I feel that cheating at it's basic is a function of selfishness and insecurity. If a person is not in love to begin with they should get out of the relationship. If they are unhappy but remain in the relationship then that is a sign of insecurity. If, more disturbing, they are happy and cheat anyways, then they are supremely selfish. It is about the cheater...not the cheated on.

Not necessarily. Most spouses have affairs because they believe that something is lacking in their current relationship or they've been having too much conflict. Among the reasons:
1. Not enough affection or sex
2. Constant disagreements or personality conflicts
3. Physical or emotional abuse

Impossible to answer yes or no with information given. Ask spouse to go with you to marriage counselor to try to work problem out. If they refuse to go, I think you can assume they do not love you enough to make the relationship work.

Not necessarily. But it sure hurts like hell inside and the feeling of betrayal can last for a very long time if total remorse is not shown and total forgiveness not given. We are all human and subject to our frailties.

Complete lack of respect is what it indicates. Also frustration, arrogance (they thought someone else would do better and they "deserved" better), and a quitting spirit.

sorry to hear that. seems thats true as the heart and love has died out for the former love.
once the heart has changed, its that for good.

Of course! How could it mean anything else? They would not have cheated on you if they had any love for you.
