Because the medical profession only wants responsible people in control of people's lives. If they begin with a group of people that have already proven they can't be trusted to obey rules, they stand very little chance of getting those responsible people.
Should have thought about it before you committed the felonies.

Felonies can prevent you from several professions... and you've found one in which the door will not be open for your. Teaching at any public institution is another door closed. The reasons are many, but it's the government has decided that you don't deserve to be in those fields because of the crimes you committed. I'm not saying it's fair... but that's the realty. Unfortunately many young people don't think BEFORE they commit a crime about how it will impact their future FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. Perhaps you can be a motivational speaker to encourage others NOT to choose the paths you did and to warn them about the consequences they will face as well as the limitations of employment.

I'm sure you can be a doctor, but you probably can't get a license to practice.
Hazarding a guess here....you're responsible for the burglary and the car theft, so it's no one's fault but your own if you can't be a doctor.
You could try to petition to get your record expunged. If you've been a good citizen, and have people who will vouch for you, it's possible.

Doctors are supposed to save lives and protect the weak. Yur felonies have fundamentally put into question yor ability to protect people. Bush or any other president, you should not be a doctor if you were able to justify burglary

Yeah dude, go and apply to be a prison doctor...seriously, maybe that organization is less judgmental.
But I have to agree with the other posters, you know, the medical boards have it that way so the public trusts doctors.
You have to ask yourself fairly, before you got involved in illegal activity, would you have wanted to trust your body, private info to someone committing major violations of other people? If your honest, the answer is "no".

Because people believe that if you aren't responsible enough to make good decisions in your own life you can't make good decisions for them.
Too bad you can't go back in time, huh?
A felony is something that you will have to live with for the rest of your life.

same reason you can't be a cop with a felony on your record, you have to be a proven law abiding citizen in order to be trusted in a government/federal job that puts other peoples lives in your hands.

You are a high risk for abusing your license as an MD. You could sell drugs, then blame it on Bush.
