Because the Republicans hold the Presidency and both houses these issues are few and far between. One possibility because of recent events is gun control. There is always a left right split on this issue.

Didn't I read something recently about how Micheal J Fox has been used to promote a certain political party in their desire for Stem Cell research. I'm not an American, I'm an Aussie, but it is something I read about. Not sure what party is for and what is against. You could use it in the sense of political dirtyness and the people that suffer because of it.

Hamdan v Rumsfeld case. That'll be good one for war on terror issues. Liberal justices and conservative justices were split on president's power to set up military tribunals for terror suspect.
