Hey, I bought the original 1977 "The Hills Have Eyes" as my son and I are horror fans. I wanted to check out the film first, but didn't have time, so can anyone tell me what the 'R' rating is for?

Thanks

It was considered a companion piece to the texas chainsaw massacre and deals with subject matter that's actually more revolting but not presented with the same intensity. It's hard to say who is more savage- it's low budget but delivers the goods well. I don't think you'd have a problem watching it with your son; be prepared to answer any questions he may have though.
Hope this helps. It's a classic!

"R" rating means restricted viewing-no one under 17 allowed in to the theater without parent or guardian. Don't know how old your son is, but Wes Craven never made a movie that was made for kids.

When it first came out in 1977, it was rated "X." I believe it's for violence, brutality, and well subject matter (cannibalism)

In 1977 they didn't always specify why they gave the rating they did. That a more recent thing. I went to MPAA's website and it wasn't specific for the '77 version.

It means Resticted. no one under 17 can see it without someone going with them to see it.. So if you see it with your son, you won't have a problem.
