Quilter's Cache is an excellent website for free patterns - she has more than 1500 of them. Here's a link to her Grandmother's Fan block. Also, it isn't free, but Quilt in a Day has a book called "Fans and Flutterbys" - Eleanor Burns' books are wonderfully detailed. She provides fabric requirements for every size quilt, and the instructions are accompanied by illustrations for every step. Quilt in a Day also has a template for the pattern - look for Dresden Plate templates.
