Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water. I found the information at http://www.pests.in useful.

1 teaspoon of boric acid to a cup of peanut butter. Add a bit of honey if you're in a loving mood. Mix well. Place a spoonful wherever you see ant activity.
Note: Boric acid is NOT Boraxo. The only thing Boraxo will do is make the ants cleaner.

Ants despise Cayanne Pepper. Spray a mixture of Tabasco Sauce and water. They will avoid the area like the plague. You can sprinkle Black Pepper too, it helps.

I use whole bay leaves and place them in the areas where the ants are traveling. Not sure what it is about them that does the job, but they have always worked for me. Good Luck!!

You can use ground cinnamon around areas they keep showing up at. I would also try finding where they are coming in your house. If you can locate where their hive entrances are then pour hot cinnamon water or ant killer down the holes, being careful if you have small children or pets.

after you've made sure that the house is completely clean, try setting traps of TERRO. terro is an insecticide you buy at your local hardware for around $10.00. just follow the directions and after 7 - 10 days you'll see a mark improvment in the number of intruders.
