When my now eight year old was a tiny infant (premie) we would warm it to about 98 or 99 degrees and take her into it, carefully held, of course, and continued until today, only in winter. In summer, she is in the regular pool all the time. She has a healthy and wise judgment in water, and has her own wetsuit and has been snorkeling in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
When she was a toddler, she slept so much better after being in the hot tub, but by that time, we had warmed it to about 100-101 degrees.

Children....even school aged YOUNG children, can not regulate body temperature the way an adult can. You NEVER put a BABY into a hot tub. Hot tubs are meant for adults or near adult age individuals. If you DO put a baby in hot tub, they can suffer from hyperthermia and boil to death.

this is a good question.
Prolonged submersion in a hot tub can have negative consequences for small children(imagine a small baby) depending on the temperature of the water and the condition of the adults caring for them. Temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit can cause metabolic changes in the baby if he or she is left long enough in the water, raising body temperature and possibly suppressing reflexes.in addition, a minor hazard for children snd babies is a skin infection called "spa dermatitis," caused by a bacteria that can live in the warm water despite chlorination. I do not feel taking a baby into a hot tub is the best idea. my daughter or will not be allowed in one until they are atleast 4 and it will be a small amount of time.

HI. I wouldn't put a baby in a hot tub. They are not as equipped to cool themselves as an adult is and they wouldn't be able to tell you if they got too hot.....which could be very dangerous. I would definitely discuss this with my doctor just for future reference if I were you. And don't listen to all the people that I see who have already left nasty comments....some people are so mean.

Never in a hot tub only luke warm for babies...
Babies skin is very delicate and can be badly burned in ordinary hot tap water... Be especially careful if living in an apartment complex where you do not have control over the temperature of the water heater...
Before you place the baby in the water check it with your wrist if the water feels body temperature it's luke warm if it feels warmer or hot it's too hot for baby...

"Children should stay out of hot tubs and spas until they are tall enough to keep their heads completely out of the water with their feet firmly touching bottom. Youngsters can quickly get overheated in hot tubs, so their visits should be kept brief. No one, adult or child, should ever submerge his or her head in a hot tub or spa. Because the temperature encourages the growth of certain microorganisms, an earful of water from a hot tub or spa can lead to an external ear infection. Far worse, long hair, which fans out when the head is submerged, can get caught in a spa or hot tub grate and cause drowning."

Age 18! Please, please don't put a baby in a hot tub. You risk killing your child. Also, hot tubs must be kept very, very clean. Hot tubs have been known to spread serious infections. It would be better to let your child make his or her own decision about a hot tub when he or she is an adult.

Never, ever, ever. The fact you ask, worries me. Even some adults don't like hot tubs, so don't ever "force" any child into one. If they are not old enough to decide rationally whether they are comfortable, it shouldn't even be a question.
