In some ways yes, but if you enjoy them then no, its all about how you react.

Depends on 3 things-
how much you like fireworks to begin with, where you live, and what is legal. In big cities, the only legal fireworks are so lame- don't bother. You're better off going to a public display.
In most rural places, the laws are less strict and you can get some amazing things for not much money.
Check Atlas Fireworks, (my faveorite fireworks dealer) and make sure you know your local laws before you buy anything!
They really would be a waste of money if the police confiscated them and arrested you...

They can be spectacular at controlled firework displays but in private hands they are generally a complete nuisance to neighbours. What goes up must come down, so where do all those spent rockets land? In others gardens, on roofs, and cars and occasionally hitting some unfortunate passerby, They frighten animals and YES they are a complete waste of money which would be better used if given to charity.

sorry to be a killjoy but yes i think they are , far better to go and see an organised display, the fireworks are far superior to anything you could see in your back garden and in my experience if you buy fireworks to let off at home you end up spending a fortune and its all over in 5 minutes, a bit of an anti climax if you ask me, and then everyone comes indoors for hot dogs and soup and treads mud all over your carpets. If your realy desperate you can allways watch your neighbours fireworks for free.

No they aren't, the best place to buy fireworks is at your distributing Sparkys location. A good song to play on Independence Day is "Independence Day" by Martina McBride.

Sincerely,
Natalie

Organized Displays are the way to go! It costs a lot less than the cinema and the children love them!
M
( otherwise everything unnecessary is a waste of money!)

Home versions are a complete waste of money. In the name of safety, they have been rendered useless. Professional displays are great.

( i just realized that this isn't really answering the question, or is it?)

Yes, but the fun of seeing these fireworks is worthless when you enjoy them.
