Okay, so last year I applied to be an RA thinking that I was a shoe-in, but I didnt get the job and was really upset. I heard through the grapevine that my name was brought up about possible RA's for next year, but apparently the word is that I will not be a very good disciplinarian. I am very upset by this. Should I apply any way and try to prove them wrong, or should I just forget about it.

Why not apply? You now have an advantage - you have a hint of what they might be thinking - so you can use that information to prepare yourself for the interview. Most people don't get that opportunity.

Always apply... if you don't get the job, you've lost nothing but a little time. If you get offered the job, you can either accept it or decline it... but you get to make that call.

go for it.. make sure you don't have any friends on your floor or else you may not be a disciplinarian.
