Tourism had had a hard blow because of terrorism. I'm sure it hasn't stopped some people, but and I'm also sure it's stopped a lot, or made them think twice. It's not as easy as it was before to travel by plane, you have to go through so many procedures, it's annoying. They check you a million times, but it's all for security. The only thing I'm scared of is terrorism, I don't want to die blown up in a plane.

Female 42: I have traveled to Amsterdam, Kenya, and St. Lucia. The first two were in 2002 after the whole 9/11 incident. The other was earlier in 1999. On all the trips I did not feel like I was in any danger from terrorism even though there had been troubles earlier in Kenya when the American Embassy was attacked, but that was before we were ever there.
I think there are definitely people who are fearful of terrorism and that keeps them from traveling.
The only thing that has kept me from traveling overseas since 2002 is money and time constraints.

Female 35.

I have never, and am not interested in travelling overseas.

Before 9-11 I might have considered travelling, so yes, terrorism has definitely had an impact of my personal decision to travel overseas. I have young children, and have tried to discourage their interest in travelling. Another thing that worries me about travelling is the stories about someone 'hiding' drugs in your luggage etc and using you as a drug mule. Imagine if Shappelle really is innocent, and then imagine that happening to you or your child!

We live in the best country in the known world :-)

yes
Significant impact
Yes I would still travel, though not to nations where I would feel that I would be a standout target (ie Muslim based nations) - also would love to go to Jerusalem, although would not again due to risk
Currently money would be a bigger obstacle in preventing me from travelling rather than terrorism.
Terrible times for nations in Indo region, also middle east nations with high % GDP resulting from tourism. Not much I think they can do until world becomes a safer place to travel. Perfect opportunities for destinations like Australia to promote themselves as tourism getaways due to relative (and I emphasise relative) tolerant society.

Female 14,
I haven't traveled overseas. i think terrorism is wrong. i think terrorism does have an impact on the tourists because they dont want to go to a place where there is a lot of violence.
