Dubya increased spending and gave a tax cut to the rich. The concept of balancing a budget is completely foreign to Republicans.

You mean the projected 10 year surpluses, because Clinton never had anywhere near that amount during his term.

Anyway, the projected surplus was a lie based on the assumption the economy would stay at bubble levels, when it was already crashing before Bush set foot in the White House (as president anyway).

It was a lie like the democratic party...it was all smoke and mirrors...there was probably a surplus but i am sure it was not that large....Clinton took credit for things that Reagan and the first bush put into motion...etc the economy and things...only after his second term did things start too falter because he was to busy getting his cigars from Monica too actual care about what went on in the country.....as far as i am concerned I hope they never ever get power in this country again.....the democrats I mean......they are nothing but bad news for the country and the people of this country!

It was a ten year budget plan... and the first 7 or 8 years was spend spend spend... then the last few years were massive spending cuts... but Clinton didnt have to worry about that because he wouldnt be in office anymore

For all of you that said tax cuts think again, go look at the numbers, since the tax cuts, the government has been collecting MORE money...
the tax cuts allow busniess and people to keep more of their own money, but they dont hide it under a matress, they spend it, creating more moeny inthe economy thus creating more money to be taxed...
If you dont believe me go look at the numbers!!

tax breaks for people who make $190,000+ someone who makes a million bucks a year gets over 48,000 back, while someone who makes 20,000 gets about 12 bucks back lol. i dont see why the republicans should be successful in this election (forget about running on iraq, their running on the economy lol). so, thats where that surplus went. the GOP,to be fair to them, have been pointing to the slash in the deficit over the past 3 yrs-nevermind that bush has been president for 6yrs! our trade deficit is really what we need to be concerned about. the more countries that buy into our markets, the more we are in their hands and their economies.

He did not leave a trillion dollar surplus, all he left was an inflated, over stated, and under reported, mess for our current President to clean up.

Sure. The money that Congress allocated and Billybob was supposed to have spent on the Military but didn't finally got to where it was going so that they could defend us from the continuous attacks that Billybob allowed them to make by not spending the money to make himself look good.
