If you're using Internet Explorer, you can just drop the menu down, hold your mouse over the item you'd like to delete, and press "Delete" (not Backspace). The Delete key that you need to press is to the right of the Enter key, underneath Insert.

If you're using Firefox, I don't know how to do it, sorry... but the Mozilla Firefox forums have proven to be extremely helpful with any problems I've had. Here is a link to the Mozilla Firefox forums: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum....
Hope this helps.

ON IE:

-First clear the general history by clicking the history button, right-clicking "today" and choosing "delete"
-Next, go to Tools/Internet Options. Select "Content", then go down to "Auto-complete" and press "clear forms". This should take care of the search results. If not, go to "General" in internet options and select "delete Cookies" for any tricky sites.

Go up to Tools, then Internet Options, then click on Advanced (at the top). Unclick "use inline autocomplete." That will keep the websites from coming up when you type them in.

CCleaner cleans internet history and a lot more. Did I mention it is free? Send them some cash if you use it.

You can also edit the registry so entries are never saved to begin with but the process is not for novices.
