Why does middle America hold so much political sway?

The largest, most powerful centres in America on on the East & West coasts, yet American politics cater largely to the antiquated, gawd-fearin', uber-conservative "heartland" states. I mean really, no one outside of the US gives a rat's *** about what happens in Hicksville USA....why are those states afforded so much consideration when it comes to policy?? Anerican politics can't seem move forward into the 21st century because of this.

Each state, no matter how big or small, has the same amount of power in the Senate. So this gives a disproportionate amount of power to the sparsely populated interior western states.

OH SURE! That's because you loony lefties on the coast have done such a wonderful job. If the liberals on the coast didn't have the Heratland to pay their bills, they'd wither up and die like the weeds they are.

Those people in the heartland states that you so pointedly ditz produce the majority of the beef, pork, chicken, corn, soy beans, timber, cotton, oil, etc, that we either live on or export.

its the radicals who come out and vote. their the ones who have enough conviction in their ideas to make room in their day to vote(radicals from both the right and the left)
