it`s nearly bonfire night again and poor old Guy will be on the top of bonfires up and down the whole country, his bones must turn over in his grave every November the 5th. isn`t it time we burnt someone else now ? I think we`ve picked on him enough.

Yes i agree. I was explaining the celebrations of bonfire night to an international student the other day and when I got round to the burning an effigy of Guy Fawkes bit I realised that boy do some people bare a long grudge in this country. How about we burn a Bin Laden or Hitler instead, I mean it might defeat the purpose of the night but please let the guy (har har) RIP

Yes, I think it's time to give poor Old Guy Fawkes a rest. He suffered a terrible execution and he didn't actually kill anyone as the plot was foiled. Not sure if he was actually a bad guy but he did try to kill members of parliament . But the way they killed people in those days makes you shudder. Let's let him lie in peace and celebrate fireworks in another way.

Its not really about Guy Fawkes its about the plot, just that Guy was the first cuaght (plus hung first) and made out to be the ring leader, but your right, let put 'V' on the bonfire.

As a kid I always felt sorry for him, but then again I so enjoyed the guy, the fireworks and the fire itself!
My Mum wouldn't let me "Penny for the guy!" - sniff!
It's a tradition now, we can't stop it!
