How would you personally define popularity?

I looked it up, but I want other peoples definitions of what they think the word means. Please dont say the state of being popular either.

Popularity is how well-known or commonly acknowledged you are by your peers, members of society (or if you were running for president, your nation).

Popularity should NEVER be mistaken with respect, something I personally value more.

popularity ~ selling you soul to be liked by one and all.
