Oldies are AWESOME! They know so much, they have had so much experience at the great game of life... It hurts to think that just as a person reaches their peak of experience and wisdom, their life has to end.

One day we'll all be old, and we'll want the respect returned from the new generation.

Some old people you can love. Other old people you need to distance yourself a bit so you don't get impatient and say something you wish you hadn't. The one thing old people can do is to make us impatient with them. When you feel that starting to happen, create some distance. Telephone a little less often, visit every other day, &c. That way you can continue to love even the most overbearing old person in Christendom. Try also to remember that that person is a little closer to the end of life and maybe should be accorded just a little extra measure of kindness and compassion. One day you and I will be old, and we will be looking for people to treat us with a little kindness, even when we are probably fairly difficult to live with, if not totally impossible. Have a good evening, now. - Chris.

a majority of old people are lovely,i used to work in a residential home, and they were lovely.but some of them are so ignorant,no manners, etc, but then again arent most people nowadays.i find that i get looked down on by older people because i'm only 26 with 4 children.but,if a door is held open,i say thank you.if i walk past an elderly person,i smile,if they smile back i'll say hello.if an older person got on a bus i give my seat up for them, but more often than not,i dont get a "thank you" and personally the most used phrase i use is "and they say young people nowadays have no manners"

I love em as a rule but i have to say there`s some miserable bad mannered old sods among them, but i expect they started off being nasty young people and had a lot of years to practise at it . Usually i get on well with the golden oldies ,they like to talk a lot and so do i.

Love them, generally speaking. There are good and bad people in all groups, though. Some elderly people are cranky, but most are very good company. I enjoy hearing stories about "the good old days" and think it's very important to record oral history from seniors.
