Honestly, I'd talk the doctor about reflux. Your son might not be vomiting just b/c of the formula; it could be reflux, which is quite common. It's often mistaken for colic. Your son may need a medication like Reglan (to heal the reflux) and Zantac (to ease the pain). I don't know how doctors determine milk allergies at this young of an age; but if it's only diagnosed based on vomiting, fussiness, and gassiness, I could see how reflux could be over-looked.

I've heard from friends that you should give a new formula at least a week to see if it's working. I think it sounds like the doctor is rushing back into milk based formula too fast. And I don't think that risk should be taken at this point considering your son has a suspected allergy to it. You might want to consider switching docs if this one doesn't listen.

GOOD LUCK! I hope you find some answers for your son.

Enfimal has a formula for infants that are allergic to both soy and milk based formulas. I think I would get a second opinion. One other thing that you might try is to switch the type of bottle you are using. Try using the Dr. Brown bottles, Walmart also has a bottle Parent's Choice which works just like the Dr. Brown ones only a little cheaper.

It is not too late to start nursing your baby. Contact a La Leche League near you, they can help.
Your little baby is evidently not going to be able to tolerate any of the artificial substances that you have tried to feed him.
He needs the milk that only you can give him. I am not exactly sure the best way to go about it as I always nursed my babies from the moment they were born but I know that there are experts that can help you.
On the other hand if you take medication that makes your milk unsuitable for a baby ( I did not think of that at first) maybe you could look into purchasing "mothers milk" for him. I have heard that there is such a thing tho I do not know very much about it.
Too bad "wet nurses" are a thing of the past!
I am so sorry that you are going thru this, it must be awful. I hope that between you and your pediatrician you are able to come up with an answer.
Good luck and Blessings to you and your little baby.

Clearly, formula is a bad idea for him. He's only a month old and your body is still prime for relactation. There are medications you can take, and different natural resources to go about producing new milk. Google "Kellymom" and try to find some breastfeeding-supportive internet sites, because this is really the best idea for your baby. Mother's milk is specially made for a baby, not artificially created in a factory.

My son also has issues with lactose based formula...I tried all different brands, and the soy as well. There is a difference between soy and lactose free... NOTHING worked until I tried the lactose fee. I believe I used the similac kind. There are also prescription formulas you can get through your pediatrician if they will give a scrip for it. It's pretty expensive tho. Good luck!

There are different soy formulas out there..maybe try another. The only one I am familar with is isomil..that is what my babies were on. Try one that does NOT say extra iron...and maybe as a starting point..try feeding him less formula at a time..just more often and see if he adjusts. Good luck..been there with fussy baby..not a fun place to be...
Also maybe dilute it with water a litttle bit may help the adjustment.

Ask your pdiatrician for a referral to a nutritionist - it may be that you need to try several different types of formulas. There are differences even within milk based formulas that could cause upset stomach.
Good luck

My daughter had the same problem, and my ped changed her formula to hypoallergenic formula, enfamil nutramagen.( I think similac has one called Allumentin) It help her right away. All her gas, crying and spitting up stopped immediately. I would ask your doctor to see if that is something that you should try. (So your not surprised if you do change it is about double the price for a can.)

We had the same problem with our foster son. He was on Similac when we brought him home from the hospital & he couldn't tolerate that so we switched him to Isomil. He had just as many problems with that so we ended up putting him on Alimentum and it was wonderful for him. I would ask your doctor. Good luck!

You should try to relactate. Its not too late! Your son deserves the perfect food for him. Thee are also milk banks if you. for some reason can legitimately not feed him the food he was supposed to get.
