All soaps are under major budget restraints or cuts right now, so if they want to bring someone back (Patch & Kayla) for the buzz it creates, they have to get rid of someone else to finance it.

Jason Cook was the old Shawn. He had been considering leaving for quite some time. He had renewed his contract as an open contract where he could pursue other projects. He is working on a movie and this year decided to part ways with Days of Our Lives. He wasn't the only one who left. The actress who played Jennifer quit, the guy who played Jack was released of his contract, Austin and Carrie are being written out of the show, and Farah Fath who plays Mimi also quit. Since the character of Shawn Douglas is such an important part of the show, they had to recast him. I agree that Jason Cook is better looking, but this Shawn can actually act pretty well.

i would like to know myself ,,i hate the new shaun d,,
they could write him off ,, they shoould of when shaun d went to jail,, they should not have replaced him with this new goober,,,
