Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. It's sort of science fiction but more of a creative specualtion of the future. I'm telling you it's awesome!!! Even if you're not an Atwood fan I think you will love it.

These books are awesome - I wouldn't say they have a huge twist at the end, but there are little twists and revelations throughout. And it's so engrossing you don't need the big twist to make it exciting. They're called Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin and Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb. She is an awesome writer, I've loved everything I've read by her. I guess the genre is fantasy, although there's not really any wizardry or elves or anything. It's about a prince's bastard son who is taken in by the king and trained to be an assassin for the court. It's written in a first person narrative, which is really different for fantasy, but I like it. The character development is great and the relationships between characters are fantastic, and the bad guys are so so hateable. These are my favourite books, can you tell?

"Incident at Owl Creek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce. Historical Fiction
Anything written by O. Henry. varies.
Psycho and Psycho 2 by Robert Bloch. Suspense thriller(Trust me; the novella version of Psycho 2 is far much better than the movie).
Planet of the Apes by Pierre Boulle. Science-Fiction.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Last Battle by CS Lewis(though I suggest you read them all) Fantasy; Christian Fiction.
Enjoy.

Nearly every one of Charles Dickens' novels have unexpected "twists" in the conclusion.
