Open you case, turn on, play for an hour on some game, turn off, stick your hand on the hard drive.
Is it VERY HOT, not warm, but HOT
YES - get a fan
NO - don't get a fan.
Easy isn't it!

the most important thing in installing extra fan is taking out (or away) the heat out of your system (or component), not simply blow every component with air. yes, it's a good idea to have a fan for your drive but make sure you have enough power connector and don't extend it, just use the available power connector to avoid power surge ( or worse). remember, taking out the heat from your pc important as well. arrange internal wires and connectors properly.

I do not think it is possible. I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems. Some hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful

Very good idea. Lots of heat in the case, and the drives will last longer.

Better to get more case fans if you have spots to put them and extra plugs on your motherboard.

The cooler you keep it, the longer it will last. This is true with any electronic component.

stop pushing your pc to its limit
