The only thing I don't like about some of the older kids coming to the door is that they don't dressup! I mean if you want the candy at least put some effort into it. I think until they are out of high school, it is one of those childhood things that they should not HAVE to give up too young. I had to stop at 12 and all my friends were still allowed to go it was just unfair.

I say the cutoff age is either:
a)whenever you get too "old" for that kind of thing (around the same time you stop believing in Santa & the Easter Bunny & the Tooth Fairy & all that)
*or*
b)whenever the only reason you want to go trick-or-treating is solely to laugh at/torment/steal candy from the younger kiddies or vandalize neighbors' properties.

I say the cutoff age is the two: a)whenever you get too "previous" for that form of venture (around an comparable time you supply up believing in Santa & the Easter Bunny & the the the teeth Fairy & all that) *or* b)each and every time the only reason you desire to pass trick-or-treating is in fact to chortle at/torment/thieve candy from the better youthful kiddies or vandalize pals' properties.

I'm an adult and I have friends who are older than me even who still go trick or treating and they have just as much fun as the kids.
I don't understand why there has to be a cutoff age. After 13 or so, you're not allowed to dress up and have fun? Who makes these rules?

I would say the last year should be when the child is in Grade 8. They should be allowed to go out with friends their age or younger siblings but only until 8:00 p.m. at the very latest.
Grade 9 and up should be helping to shell out candy unless they have been given the responsibility of taking their younger siblings around. The High School sibling should not be begging for candy. If they are offered a treat they could accept providing they let the person know that they are in High School and just chaperoning the younger children and the person shelling out is okay with still giving them some treats.

well i think there is no cut off age. just a certain point when mean old people shut the door in your face. sumone said that if they're older than 8, no candy. I would have cried!!!!!
and little kids don't work hard on their costumes. Their mom/dad buys em one when they're babies and when they're older they just pick one out of a catalouge. I mean yeah some people do the same thing but i went down to ricky's and put my outfit together and stuff.

I would give out candy to anyone in a costume. I had 18 year olds trick or treating at my house. It's better than vandalism.

I think that as long as you are in high school, it's fine. You MUST be dressed up.......we dread giving out candy to kids not dressed up.....but we do anyway because we get like 10 kids total.LOL. Just have some spirit, put on a good costume, and be appreciative as you receive the loot.
