Female Circumcision is this: the action or practice of cutting off the clitoris and sometimes the labia of girls or young women.
"More than 90 percent of Sudanese women undergo the most severe form of circumcision, known as "pharaonic," or infibulation, at the age of seven or eight, which removes all of the clitoris, the labia minora, and the labia majora. The sides are then sutured together, often with thorns, and only a small matchstick-diameter opening is left for urine and menstrual flow. The girl's legs are tied together and liquids are heavily rationed until the incision is healed. During this primitive yet major surgery, it is not uncommon for girls, who are held down by female relatives, to die from shock or hemorrhage of the vagina, urethra, bladder, and rectal area may also be damaged, and massive keloid scarring can obstruct walking for life. After marriage, women who have been infibulated must be forcibly penetrated." Site listed below for reference.

Female circumsision usually involves cutting away the hood of the clitoris as well as the clitoris itself. This used to be commonly practised in Middle-Eastern countries as well as some other places, as it was believed that taking away a woman's pleasure organs kept her from being promiscous and made her a better wife. I'm not sure how common this is now. There are also countries where the labia are cut off, or girls/women have their vaginal opening sewn shut until marriage when it is cut back open so that her husband may proceed to have intercourse. Most of these procedures are conducted without anesthesia are are considered traumatic, and leave the genetalia mutilated.

Female circumcision usually involves cutting off the clitoris, the clitoral hood, and in some cases, even portions of the labia. What is left of the labia is usually stitched closed, making sex extremely painful. It can also lead to horrific tears and sometimes death during childbirth.

There are diferent types of FGM, the removal of clitoris and prepuce is analegous to the removal of the males foreskin and frenulum. There are more extreme kinds, but this is the most commonly practiced type. Cutting ANYONE'S genitals is wrong! The reasons for cutting gils are the same as are given for boys, i.e. cleanliness, religion, disease prevention etc... Women can still have sex, just as a cut male can, they just have a lot less sensation.
This page http://www.noharmm.org/comparison.htm compares the practices of FGM and MGM.

it is possible....its been done in middle eastern countries for a long time...but unlike male circumsision.....female circumsision makes a woman loose sexual feeling sometimes completely and that is why it is barbaric.....they use female circumsision basically to make a woman asexual.....for childbirth only...no pleasure involved for the woman....its a truly awful practice and is mutilization

its a barbaric practice nothing more than mutilation.
designed by males who are so insecure of themselves they have to literally desex their females to kill their sexual desire.
someone should castrate the father. this is just another form of child abuse.
