It's completely normal.. The baby grows the most withen the last two months, so you will start gaining weight and showing more soon. If there was something wrong it would show uo during an ultrasound/check-up. Just keeping eating healthy and don't stress about it. Unless you smoke, if you do the baby is going to be small.

By the time that you are ready to deliver you need to have gained about 35 pounds to have a healthy baby. The person who said 20 was a bit off.
Looking at it from that perspective it seems to me that you are underweight.
Part of me wants to ask you what your doctor has said but some doctors are so busy that they do not pay the attention that they should.
You should make it a point to ASK your doctor what she thinks of the small amount of weight that you have gained. If you were already obese when you got pregnant I can see that your doctor might actually be relieved that your weight gain would be so small. You say though that you are thin so that is not the case. The fact that you are not showing too much is not really worrisome as all women are different. You may just be carrying your baby differently than some other women. Usually small women tend to show more, not less because there is no where to hide it. Again, you seem to be the exception.
I had 5 babies. If I were you I would be concerned. You really need to talk to your doctor. Low birth weight is the most common problem for newborns and it leads to serious difficulties.
BTW, you did not say how old you are but I do know that low birth weights often occurr with teenage pregnancy.
Please do take care of yourself and why don't you go have a sandwich and a glass of milk? lol....
Love and Blessings

I was the same way. I weighed 95lbs when I got pregnant. I didn't start showing until around 7 months. Then in the 8th month I blew up to the babys rapid weight gain. (about a half a lb to a lb a wk!-average fetal growth in the last 8 wks of preg)
So long as you are going to your dr visits regularly and he or she says the baby is growing at a normal rate it is fine.
Also, if this is your first child, it will take longer for you to show because your muscles are still very tight and strong. As opposed to mutliple pregnancies where you start showing early, do to muscle tone mass.
The average weight gain in a normal pregnancy is about 28-35lbs. Believe me, you will most likely start to gain rapidly from here on out. The baby is developing everything it will need to be able to function outside the womb!
Congrats on the lil one! I know you must be so excited and can't wait for he or she to come out! I know the day can't come soon enough, but relax, get your rest - the worst is yet to come and so is the best!!

You are completely normal. As long as you have regular monthly check-ups as required up to 36 weeks and then every week thereafter, all is well. When I was pregnant with both my children, you could not tell until I was around 71/2 months. I am very thin and small built and my babies hid well under my ribs and towards my back. You are right on track with your weight gain, as small woman like this are only expected to gain between 19-26 lbs throughout their entire pregnancies. At roughly 32 weeks your baby will gain one ounce a day, which can make you balloon out of nowhere!!! Most of the babies weight gain is held up until this point, many of them weighing only a pound until then. They grow in mind and then in weight in development. Rest asure you will have a healthy baby, within normal weight. My children weighed nearly 8 pounds a piece and I gained only 20 pounds with them both. Good luck to you and your new arrival!!!

As long as the doctor says everything is ok, I wouldn't worry. I actually only gained 10 pounds the first 8 months of my first pregnancy. I was average, not thin, but not overweight either. Nobody could believe that I was nine months pregnant when I went into the hospital to deliver. My second pregnancy? Whole different story, I gained plenty of weight.

Not all women show the same way. However you should ask your doctor for an opinion. A slim woman ought to gain at least 20 pounds by the 9th month in order to have a healthy baby.

Are you tall? I went in to deliver my children and they thought i was not ready do to my size. I am tall and tended to carry my kids on my spine leaving nothing but a cute half basketball size bump. With my 1st child i lost weight do to morning sickness. Just eat healthy and see your Dr. if you do not feel movement for the usual time for you or bloody discharge then worry. There have been plenty of reports of women not even knowing that they were pregnant. You seem to be doing great the average weight gain in pregnancy is only 25 lbs. and most of the baby's weight gain is in the last weeks of pregnancy. trust me 1 of my children was 7 weeks early and weighed 7lbs15oz. they said he would have been at least 10lbs.his feet were soooooo big they were folded in half but i am 6 feet and my hubby is 6feet 5in. every one is different and i did eat healthy. He was fine and it had nothing to do with weight gain that he was early! by the way I weighed less after the first one and she was late, and as healthy as could be but if you do not feel comfortable ask your Dr. possibly for an ultrasound and maybe the date is off. By the way the late child was 8lbs 4 ozs. and completely healthy and i was 15 lbs less then before i was pregnant with her and i was already skinny. you know your body and follow your instincts!!!!!!!!!!! by the way the person reading books and saying you have to gain 35lbs to have a healthy baby is going to scare people as each person is built different and many of healthy babies are born everyday and the mother did not gain 35lbs!!!!!!!! My Dr. never worried he just listened to my instincts and they were always right! as well as normal visits and check ups of course!

Some women carry babies in whats called the back and some in the front. Those who carry their babies in the back do not show very much at all. If you doctor is not concerned then don't worry. If you are not having regular check-ups with your doctor you should schedule an appointment immediately if only to put your mind at ease.
