I think they are lucky if they can get away with it.

I sort of feel the same way about my roommate, although I try and take her mental illness into consideration (my first wife was like this but not nearly as bad), it is still annoying. And I DEFINITELY try to limit my time near her. I do my own laundry, dishes, dust, sweep, mop, clean the bathroom, living room, and even feed/pick up after her dogs, and let them in/out. I do the garbage and bring in the mail, and of course what I do is usually done just not quite correctly, and she let's me know it. And the list goes on and on-some of it too ridiculous and lengthy to post. Once, getting tired of this, I didn't feed her dogs, so she commanded her dogs away from me for two days whenever they came to me for attention-so I stopped showing them attention, and THIS made her mad. lol And she STILL tries to get me to do more and more and more-even dumping/dirtying things intentionally to see if I respond. She has her son or friends do most of her house/ yard work for her, it's just sad. But I have limitations too. In her case I think it is part control issues, part mental illness, and sometimes there is STRONG evidence of her wishing for more than roommate status (which I quell immediately). She DID however, just yesterday, tell me that I was ranked an 11 out of 10 as a roommate in front of a couple that came here, so I'll lean towards the mental illness part the most as being her "sin" (And trust me, I have dealt with some pretty twisted people for some time now-please do not get offended, I do not think all mentally ill people are twisted, just the ones intent on being malignant and overly selfish in behavior) When she complains about what I DO do, I tell her to fire me and do it herself. When she gets depressed and feels like yelling at me, I get a stuffed animal and put it where I was when she started and walk away, and I tell her to yell at that, as I get agitated. No, I don't think she'll go to hell though. So as far as the concerns regarding the person in YOUR life-you can TRY some of my ideas, or shoot them in the leg with a shotgun.

lazy, i guess. i look at it this way, if this person is allowed to get away with this habit, then that is exactly what they are gonna do. So put your foot down.
