It's 4 in your example.

Whenever you have an equation in the form of y = mx + b, the slope is m.

If you had an equation like 2y = 10x + 3, you'd first need to get it into "y=..." form ... so in this example, divide by 2 to get y = 5x + 3/2, and the slope is 5.

Just remember the form: y = mx + b

y=x is not undefined or anything.
think about it. If y=mx+b is the formula and there is no visible b, then it is 0. The x by itself has an imaginary 1 in front of it. how do you make a fraction out of a whole number? add one under it! so it is like your problem says:
y=1/1x+0, so that is pretty much what you are working with. It has the format of all the other y intercept problems so you can work it out easier.

for y=4x+2, 2 is the y intercept, and 4/1 is the slope!

~Hope this helps~

The equation is y=mx+b

And m is the slope
so yes the slope is always there...

To find the slope you do rise over run.

Like..

y-y
x-x

So you subtract the first y which is your secnod point in a corridante (o,7) the 7 is the y

Minus the second

and the 0 is the x

and then you have a fraction and you divied and you have your slope.

If y is equal to x, the slope is 1.

y equal 4x +2, the slope is positive 4. Check the examples in your math book, it should all be explained.

If eqn in form y = mx + b, slope is m

If form is y = 4 slope is 0

If form is x = 5, slope is undefined.

y = mx + b. m is the slope.

so y = x has slope 1

y = 4x+2 has slope 4

3y = 8x+4 => y = (8/3)x+(4/3) has slope 8/3 etc.

when its in y=mx +b form, then the slope is m
in that equasion the slope is 4

y=mx+b

m is the slope

so in this case would be 4
