Well Sweetie, Registered Nurse here. I apologize to you, but Dear you must see a Doctor. I understand the privacy thing, believe me. I was once 16 and this is when I saw a GYN physician for the first time. I can assure you, the staff is very professional. And the majority of the time the Doctor is very understanding and the nurses are great. You just tell them, hey this is my first time and if you don't want me to take off streaking, then take it easy with me. You will instantly be relieved for these trained professionals, deal with it everyday. Believe me the females who want to go to a GYN, are very few and far between. Now first of all you need to telll your mother. I'm sure she will direct you in the right direction. Having a menustrual cycle every two weeks, is not normal, and can lead to anemia. Chances are you simply have a hormonal imbalance. Can be correct with oral hormones, or an injection. You should not have to worry over this to the point of making your self sick, and stressing your body completely out. Sorry Sweetie, but the good lord above made you female, and this involves, going to the doctor, he or she, will be very good to you. And on the outside chance, which is very rare that they are rude to you. Tell them to shove it, and go to another doctor. But bleeding every two weeks, is not normal. Doesn't mean you have a life threatening problem. Most likely, something is just a little off balance. I CANNOT STRESS TO YOU STRONGLY ENOUGH TO TELL YOUR MOTHER AND GO TO THE DOCTOR. Thanks for the opportunity to answer your question. Take a deep breath and grettra done.:)

The normal menstrual cycle is between 20-40 days. You may just be one of the ones who is down on the lower end. This is especially likely since you are very young, and your cycle may still be settling down to its adult frequency. Ditto on the heaviness... some people are much heavier than others. It's not at all likely that you will bleed out or get sick based on how heavy your period is, but you should take care to get enough iron in your diet (don't take more than the recommended dose of a supplement... too much iron is toxic)
Unfortunately, that's all that we here on the internets can do. If you want to see if anything else is going on (such as PCOS or endometriosis) you're going to have to bite the bullet and see a doctor. You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

Hon,
I have to agree with the RN.
I don't mean to freak you out, but you NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR!
Even if it's nothing else but extremely frequent periods, that's WAAAAY too much blood to be losing in such a short period of time.
Don't worry though, the'll most likley just put you on the pill, and that usually fixes it.
But you need to get a pap smear anyways, 16 is the normal age.
It's really not that bad, I just got mine done about a month ago, and it's not bad at all.
Weird, yes.
Painfull, no.
"If your periods are coming less than 23 DAYS APART(counted from the beginning of one to the beginning of the next), then you should see your gynecologist. A biopsy may be necessary to rule out an abnormal thickening of the uterine lining. Blood tests may be done to assess hormone levels. Most of the time the reason for frequent bleeding is benign, but occasionally the problem can be more serious; for this reason, and because excess bleeding can lead to anemia, too-frequent periods must be investigated."

Don't freak out, but get this checked on.
It's very important, because even if it isn't anything very harmfull, like I said, that's TOO MUCH BLOOD LOSS.
Good luck!
Sheena

Just popping in to say that the RN who answered is giving you good advice here, my sister had a problem like this and you don't want to wait because you can become very run down due to the lack of iron, and also the sheer frustration of the problem. She got a perscription and is now fine, so don't worry! It's healthy to start seeing a gynecologist at your age anyway to prevent major health problems, this coming from someone who knows! The exam itself is literally about 30 seconds, not bad at all. You might want to find a female doctor, some women are more comfortable with that.

getting a period twice a month for two months in a row or maybe three is normal. But usually only in the first 2 years after you've started your period.
But you've had it a decent amount of time before your irregularness. Hate to say it but you do need to see a doctor, this could be very serious and maybe be affecting your chance of children or other health issues in the future. You need to talk to your family and doctor because this ISN'T normal.

What you spot on normal, is what is ordinary. Example: in the event you see a character hiccuping that in most cases ordinary but when its nonstop for days or months, that is obviously now not ordinary. Also if a character was once born with anything like six palms on each and every hand would possibly not look ordinary to us however it's ordinary to that character. So generally it is an man or woman factor that nobody else will realize.

I think you should tell your mom and go to see a doctor.
You are supposed to have one period on month and if they are that heavy you may be losing too much blood.
I knew a girl who was put on birth control pills to regulat her cycle at 15.
I know it's weird to talk about your body with someone else but you eventually will have to.

well no its not normal at al.. one of the reasons you might have twice every month is prolly becasue of health .. if you are too thin for a average weight of a 16 yr old then prolly because of that. other than that go see a doctor .. if you are too shy like me google it on how to prevent it (look at logical sites some are fake ones) and try that for a monthif it still doesn't work then go see a doc.

Using a pad every hour during the beginning of your menses is normal, but if that kind of thing carries on for more than a day then you are probably bleeding too heavily. Also, 2 periods in a month is NOT normal. I absolutely hate going to my annual "crotch shop" exam, but it's necessary for every woman to do so. Please remember, there are alsways going to be horrible things in life that you just don't want to do, but when your health is in trouble you just have to face it. Go to the doctor, please!
