Sadly, most peoples' exposure to astrology is probably Sun Sign columns in the local newspaper. They aren't familiar with the astrology as a science. People will readily accept that space is curved; that time is really a fourth dimension, and not separate from space; that looking at something alters its position; that subatomic particles move so fast that time is experienced differently for these particles; that time can speed up or slow down as the speed of an object changes...but the age-old theory and science of astrology are considered to be hocus-pocus and supersition.

Astrology uses science but is not a science. Where do you see this section? Entertainment & Music, not in the science section.
Constancy is important is science and the last thing constant is astrology. Using science words does not make it a science. Back up the claim with independent tests.
Below are two links. One is for a good explanation of what is science is and is not. The second is a Baloney Detection Kit by Carl Sagan.
Add on:
The reason we have tides is because of gravity. Tides have nothing to do with the moon phases, that's just the sunlight. The earth's mass keeps the moon in orbit. The sun also has an effect on the tides. It's nothing strange and it is predictable. Furthermore, the tides only affects unbounded bodies of water, while the water in the human body is bounded. The only "astrological" body we feel is the heat of the sun.

Although you do make your point here, you must accept the fact that astrology is "NOT" a science! It was in the ancient times used as a science but after astronomy took over and the various astrology charlatans of the middle ages made a mockery out of astrology, as some of them still do, astrology is no longer considered a science but a divination practice. And the reason for that, in my view, is the unscrupulous practice of many (Not all) so called astrologers, who use this practice for personal gains and not for the benefit of the "thirsty for the truth" public.

the science has been exploited by so many people, that it doesn't seem real, just a form of entertainment. now, you obviously know more than the average person on this subject, but the next time you go to a book store check this section out. take a poll and see how much "crap" is out there. daily horoscopes are all over the internet and papers, but they are all the same thing, "crap".

I know what you mean, and I really don't know why.

There's gotta be truth to it. I've seen it be so acurate, that it will even seem to hit upon exactly what we were saying when we picked it up, time after time.

The moon gets full, and look what that does to the tides. It can even effect a tidal wave! And the amount of water that's in our bodies.

The water level than can sharply effect are moods. So then, other stars could effect us too, I believe.

The media, etc, would rather have us believe in materialism. That way we'll spend money.

Because they haven't studied it. To dismiss it out of hand was probably what the "scientists" of the 15th Century did when faced with the outlandish idea the world was round. :-) Or in Galileo Galilei's day that the Earth rotated around the Sun. Blasphemy!
Don't let the knockers ruin it for you. They will always be around.
Have fun and discover it for yourself.
Best wishes

My horoscope NEVER applies to me. Therefore I always make fun of it.

More than one person was born on your birthday, does that mean that person is the same as you? Does that mean that person will go through the same experiences as you? Does the characteristics of your astrological sign match your personality 100%?

(I'll give you a hint to the three questions above. The answers are no, no, and no.)

Today's horoscope sign for Cancer:

Watch for falling asteriods.

(See? It's fun! Really, really cheap entertainment!)

I think a majority of them attack it because they equate astrology to what is found in the daily newspapers.
