Writing a novel is a very personal thing. It's about what you feel you have to say. It's a unique forum where you get to work and re-work your idea until you've come up with exactly what it was you feel you were trying to shape.
Your ideas are probably all good. All you need to do is take one and stick to it through the highs and lows until it's finished. If you're struggling with passages in a book, it's a good sign: It means you're personally involved as an artist.

I think this is more a problem of process than of ideas. If jumping right in is not working for you (you can't finish a book), then maybe you should put more time into outlining. Or start writing short stories for a while, and just allow the story to continue on past 40 pages if it appeals to you.

The question I ask myself, though, is, "Does this novel mean more than the words on the page?" Anybody can describe emotion, but it takes a great story to make someone feel it. If you've got a story that evokes emotion, that is a story worth writing.

I think that you should start with poetry or short stories. They don't require long attention spans or enormous amounts of detail. All that they require is an idea.

The moment is long
in the days of our youth
but the fleeting of time
causes hearts to seek truth

In the end, we are weak
as when we began
and the days have now changed
to short breathes of air

I just made this poem up. It conveys my idea about life from youth to old age. I was not able to include every detail about youth or old age, but instead, I took a snapshot of what was going on inside of my mind and soul.

Try it yourself. You may find it more rewarding than trying to write an entire novel. Maybe you're just not ready to write an entire book, and that's fine. Perhaps start with small goals and work your way towards the larger ones. Start somewhere that doesn't cause anxiety and stress, but instead encourages you to be steadfast and consistent in your writing goals.

Also, would it be possible for me to contact you? You seem to be quite a deep thinker, and I feel that we may have somethings in common. Just wondering. Anyway, I hope all goes well.

I don't know. The advice from me is to finish your novel anyway. How will you know if your novel/idea is good if you DON"T finish it? What if it's a best seller that you never complete? Just write it.

People can write books about anything. One important thing is how you word things. If you have a dream to write a book, then do so. I'm sure someone somewhere would read it.

I'm no novelist so I couldn't say for sure, but my advice would be to flesh out a basic idea. If you like what you see, add more details. Keep doing this until you have a pretty detailed idea of what you would like to write. If it seems book-worthy, go for it. If not, scrap it and move on.
