What I find interesting is the myth about both parties prevails, e.g., the "Republicans are for the rich and the Democrats are for the poor".

Sorry, folks, that is simply not true. Each politician who has spent any time in Washington is for himself. They pay lip service to "the little people", but lip service is all it is. If the truth were known, there are more super millionaire Democrats than there are Republicans and Dems do a lot more for big corporations (or countries if you want to count how much Clinton gave China).

Politicians are in office for their own gain, to fulfill their own dreams and to advance into as much power as the ridiculous electorate will keep giving them.

WE NEED TERM LIMITS IN CONGRESS if we are EVER going to have honest, real, representatives of the people. With limits, they won't have time to argue, create phony investigations, fight, spit, dream up lies and try to destory other people. They will be too busy tending to the business they were sent to Washington to tend to.

Assuming that this is even a legitimate question in the first place: nothing.

Get off of the "toe the party line" mentality and realize that democrats and republicans work for the same country. Some people favor the democrats way of thinking while others prefer the republican thought process. There is no real answer to your question.

Nothing is worse than an uneducated voter.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The was the problem with the White House and the congress in Republican hands. They was no one to stop them. Now with a Democratic congress Bush will be forced to compromise and everything will not be so Big Business friendly

If I may, let me help you out here with a re-phrasing of your question:

Question: What makes Democrats think they're better than Republicans?

Answer: They can just FEEL it.

They're the best alternative to the republicans

Caring about people and the environment.

That's the main difference. Republicans tend to only care about making as much money as they can (like Bush and his oil war) while democrats actually care about people.

What ethics....do some research....the house and senate throughout the 80's early 90's was corrupt with scandal after
scandal.....then the dems hey lets top it....we can get our pres
to be even as degenerate as us.....

YOu have one sorry as rep foley who is gay...and if the truth was known...they didnt grab him earlier....because gay liberal dems would accuse Bush of being on a witch hunt....

I am so sick of liberals and there double standards....go look at san fran....look at all your projects....drugs...drugs.....rampant multi family multi children...no father no job......

People are people - regardless of the party. I generally follow the Dems more because they are more domestically focused. The Republicans you see today aren't real Republicans. They aren't fiscally conservative or moral in any respect.

Wrong question. You should have asked "Why do Dems think they are better than Reps.?" The answer to that is that they are delusional. Your question has no answer. It's a "Have you stopped beating your wife?" type of question.
