solve it by factor or the quad formula
x=8+8*radical(2), 8-8*radical(2)

x^2 - 16x - 64 = 0

(x-8)(x-8) = 0

So, x = 8

its a quadratic equation so subtract 64 from both sides first so the equation equals 0. then factor it out. get both those factors to equal 0 and solve from there. you should get 2 answers.

I "heart" AUG is right except you either need to put +/-8 or |8| which mean the same thing, just that the answer is either + OR/AND - 8

it is thoroughly unfactorable
use quadratic formula

x = -b plus/minus squareroot( b2-4ac) / 2a
b being -16, a being 1, c being -64
