I feel that they do make great movies, if the movie is well-made. A pathetic script or bad director can make any book into a terrible movie. Granted, most people have much more vivid imaginations than the limits of special effects can produce for the big screen, but it doesn't mean that a book will always win over a movie. Sometimes, the movie can go to enhance the book, to explain the ideas or plot twists or other aspects of the book that may be harder for some readers to get. Of course, this applies to any thype of book, not just horror. For examples of books that have made great movies, just look to Steven King's work. Many of his novels and short stories have been adapted to miniseries, tv shows, and full-length movies, with great success. As with anything, a lot of the success depends on having a) a good book to start with, b) a script writer that doesn't kill the story, and c) a cast and crew dedicated to bringing the book to life in the best way possible.

The problem with horror movies is that they too often depend on sets, scenery or props, and it's almost impossible to make anything that replicates what we can imagine, without looking hokey.
The other difficulty is that everyone has a different picture in their mind, about what things look like, and you can't turn out something that everyone will agree with.
PS: Writing only has one 't'. You might want to make a habit of spell checking your submissions just on general principles, and most especially the paper you are going to turn in.

Yes they do make good horror movies because to me, horror movies are alot like horror novels. Though, making a horror book into a horror movie, like all book movies, will have alot of things left out making it nothing like the book.
Just a question for you, are we doing your homework?

It is my opinion, it would seem horror Movies, are not made true to the book!
I have read many, and even with all the special effects...they can't seem to get it just right..I have seen movie versions, and
it always to me falls quite short!
They seem to want to make certain changes, and in doing so...
I feel that in the change-over-from Book to screen, something quite vital to that story......gets Lost!
I never hear anyone say..it was a great movie.
They seem to always say ''Oh! I liked the book better''.

For me, i don't watch a movie based on a book I have already read because I develop mental images from the details that make it scary. Someone else's vision will ruin the one I have in my head. HOWEVER, with the special effects nowadays scary movies aren't as cheesy.

Yes. Horror is something to be SEEN not read. I usually find the book to be better than the movie but in the horror genre, you have to SEE it.

Yes they do. Have you ever seen a Stephen King movie? His books are just as scary. When you read a scary book, you usually visualize it in your head, then it's made into a movie and can either be just as scary as you visualized it, or scarier or not be scary at all.

yes, horror novels can make great movies. most horror movies were novels before they hit the big screen because it got so many readers. The Exorcist, the omen, and Dacula were novels before they were movies.
