So lately I've been trying to learn more about the situation in Iraq. I want be able to evaluate possible solutions to the mess we're in. My congressman (Harold Ford Jr.) who's running for Senate proposes that we divide Iraq into three sections - Sunni, Shi'a, and Kurd - much like Bill Clinton did in Kosovo. He claims it wil ease some of the violence and undermine the insurgency. Sounds good, but I don't really know enough to realistically evaluate it. What do you think of this plan? Any ideas about how to get out of there with the least long-term damage in the smallest amount of time? What do you think Bill Clinton would propose?

Serious answers only, please. =)

Thanks in advance!!

Iraqis are already moving into their '3 districts' , even as polls show its not what they would like. we should assist them in doing it rather than splitting up towns with check points ONLY. some areas we need those check points obviously, but not everywhere. in many areas they stop people from moving into those unofficial districts and, thus, ticks people off. nevermind why we went into iraq in the first place, most americans now know that the reason we went in wasnt true. so, we need to come up with something. 3 districts, while working with the iraqi government work with the clerics with open eyes and a wide perspective on things. only then can we stop a full blown civil war and get outa there. we've gotta use our brains to solve this one

Your Senator Harold Ford is on the right track,
but instead of "We" dividing Iraq into 3 Parts, those 3 clans must have a say in the way Iraq is divided.
There will never be any Peace in Iraq until they
decide, Not Bush.

There hasn't been a major war yet that didn't end sometime. ( Discounting that between Good and Evil). There hasn't been enemies who, at some point, shake hands and become friends and allies. So the long term odds are on friendship. We all hope for the best but that might be later than sooner.

Send ALL the Hollywood Liberals, Dixie Chicks, Jersey Girls, Cindy Sheehan, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and the DNC over in battalion force to give ALL the terrorists a BIG FAT HUG and sing *** bye ya.

Surely, we'll all make friends and the war will end.

We leave them alone to do what they want to do!

Iraq is a country of tribal allegiances. The sooner we begin to understand what that means the better.

They want democracy the same way we want state controlled religion. It was foolishness to think we could ever change their culture. They are what they are and we are what we are, and what is wrong with that?

Why do we feel the right to impose our system on others? that is the real question. Were we asked to be there?

first off all the "insurgency" is instigated by the US as an excuse to stay and is a military tactic called "counter insurgency operations" ... what u see in the media everyday is pure propaganda ... want to end the war? everybody needs to wake the *** up that the war was based on lies and quit supporting things that are clearly not in the american peoples interest ... we need to protest it loudly with one voice and quit letting the idiots on capitol hill and the media put a guilt trip on us like we are unpatriotic if we dont support their every imperialistic whim and kiss their azz ...

yes division of the nation,

That may work well for the US also, several state for those that want abortions and gay rights, Other states for those that want a strict constitutional rule

Each can have a regional governor that reports to the president. The illegals can have one state of thier own, and we could even do like one of those movies and give all the criminals thier own area.

If that solves there fighting, it could be used to stop our fighting, ( we merely sue each other instead of killing)
