Jackson was a very isolationalist American president. He was against a National Bank because it threw foreign currency into our American financial system... So, to really put his ideal into words, he was a nationalist and promoted the success of the common man. He also helped to inspire the "common schools" of the 19th century--this I remember from my education courses.
