I have an old 1964 car that drove 60 miles just fine for the first time in years. The problem is the next day I went out to move it and the back tires are throwing gravel but the front of the car feels like it is locked or something. It does not want to move. What should I try?

There are several possibilities. If your brake pads wore down to the metal, they may have fused to the rotor or drum if it does not have front disc brakes. The brake line may have ruptured with the brakes in the applied position. There may be a block in brake line(s) preventing the brake(s) from returning to the open position.

Raise the front end, remove one or both wheels and see what the brake condition is. If the brake is pressing aginst the drum or disc, see if you can free it. If all you see is metal, no pad, you will need a brake job.

Driving a car 60 miles that has not been driven in years is an invitation to disaster. You may have been lucky nothing happened while you were driving it, but your luck has run out. Try getting a mechanic to look at it before you move it again, even if you "unlock" the front wheels.

1964 ? Chevy, Dodge, Ford ? Sounds like your wheel bearings or your brake drums are seized up. Be prepared to do a bit of work and replace some parts

The only things that could cause it to not move would be siezed wheel bearings or the brakes are locked up. The older cars had drum front brakes.

It sounds like you have a break problem there. Maybe your wheel cylinders did not return to the off. You may have to pry them back. They may have built up rust inside and froze during your last, parking brake application or it is up in the Master cylinder, but me thinks the wheel cylinders.

actual... rear dealing with is amazingly THAT a lot safer. Its worth attempting to confirm out. 1st, i'm guessing he's in an toddler bucket? If he's, you want to flow him out of it ASAP. There are convertible carseats contained in the united kingdom that would want to rear face previous the seat you've. those seats will turn ahead dealing with when you've maxed out the rear dealing with limits. once you've a combi convertible (is it the zeus?) - i'd seem into determining to purchase yet another convertible carseat that has a larger max weight. Britax definetly does, i believe Graco does besides.

you re front brakes are locked up, you may be able to free them by removing the front wheels and hitting the brake drums (assuming it doesn't have disk brakes, very rare in 64) however to be safe have the brakes and hydraulics replaced all around...

your back tires are throwing gravel because it is a rear wheel drive, and the engine is powering your rear wheels, but your front tires have no drive gear to them, and your breaks are froze up, you will have to flat bed it to a dealership, or your mechanic to get it fixed. good luck
