What cultural background can a mixed person[black & white] be taught more of?

Let's say the Mom is Black & the Dad is white, would she/he be possibly taught more of slavery than, let's say the American Revolution or something? .....just curious :-) I know that there is no real, true answer by the way.

In school, I think they'd be taught more about a white person's history. At home though, I think it would be the parent's responsibility to ensure that the child's history and backround of both races is taught to them.

I think culture is something that isn't really taught, rather comes about by the messages that are sent and received between a social group. Subject matter is agreed upon or discounted as time passes, family stories become linked with current events, resulting in a tapestry which becomes a culture.

whatever if you are living into the u.s.a. you ought to learn u.s.a. history,so such topics are part of this history,now the word slavery is covering not only race ,remember the labor union history in the u.s.a., but anyway it will depends of the parents more than anybody else,in my opinion a good teaching with an actual or present base will be great,it means to know from where we came but to know where we are now.

How about we stop bringing up race. Let's teach all people about America. Focusing on race is the problem.

Teach them both and let the child decide their take on it. There are enough marital problems without starting a silly one like that.

depends on the kid. i mean, it really just depends on the environment. his or her classroom education would probably be biased toward white american history. i agree with whoever said the parents would both want to be responsible for the chld learning both aspects of her history.
