Personally, I think it's Cool Hand Luke. He was so dreamy back then. Those piercing eyes. Mmm. Simply gorgeous.

Your right, 'Cool Hand Luke' is a masterpiece of film that will last the ages. Newman's portrayal of the impulsive loner with the undying will is epic, and makes Cool Hand Luke (Lucas Jackson) one of the most memorable movie characters of all time. Luke's unfaltering spirit in the face of a life that never seems to deal him a fair hand will win you over sooner than later. A superb supporting cast, (including George Kennedy in his Oscar winning performance), fine direction from Stuart Rosenberg and a timeless story elevate the movie from good to classic status.

The plot line: Luke is arrested (for the silliest of crimes) and sent to a work camp. Soon things begin to change there because of Luke, but not due to conscious action on Luke's part. Just because Luke is who he is. The inmates are at first hostile to Luke but soon warm to him. They even start feeling some unity. Some of the most memorable scenes in film naturally stick out in your mind. Luke just never staying down in the boxing match, the egg eating scene, his escapes, and when Luke is beaten by the prison captain (Strother Martin)...and the unforgettable smile. 10/10. A legendary performance from Newman. A true classic
