spend alot of time talking with your baby and playing patty cake and things like that. you could also read baby books to your child. my daughter always enjoyed that. with all of this activity with your baby, mental growth will take place more quickly. I'm sure you know that, that's why you are asking this question. Also taking your child out to different places and with other people will help your child overcome shyness and will be a real joy to you.
