Kids are trick-or-treating at my dorm tonight and I'm afraid i'm going to run out of candy, and I can't go out to get more. What do I say if I'm stuck giving candy to some members of the trick-or-treating group, but then I run out and I can't give candy to the rest of the kids in the group?

Please help quick b/c kids are trick-or-treating as we speak!

I always drop quarters (or money if you're not from the U.S.) into their bags if I run out...just being 8 or 10 kids short.

After I close the door the last time with candy to hand out, I turn out the light and don't answer the door. I've never had anyone soap my windows or toilet paper my yard yet.

I usually serve about 100 - 150 kids a year...after that, I quit playing trick or treat. I show that I'm finished by turning out my porch light and not answering the door.

Turn off your light and don't answer the door. Or see if anyone else has more candy than they will need. Or tell them you have a trick to show them, instead of a treat. But I guess you'd have to think up something entertaining to do as a trick.

Oh wait, does the trick part mean t hey're going to play a trick on you? If so, maybe not a good idea.

Where I live, if the lights aren't on at the house, we just don't stop. I always cut my porch light off when I run out. And if I was right in the middle of a group of kids that were trick or treating I would apologize and just tell them to have a great Halloween.

Well what I did, I gave out candy while my family (roommate, whoever) went trick or treating. Then they would come back like every 10 minutes or so and dumped their candies back in the bowl! (You see I don't like candy so they wont need to keep all the candies) LOL

Turn off the lights outside and don't answere the door. They will stop coming. Also give the rest pre-bagged snacks that come from the store so there will be less suspicion of poisoning. And it isn't halloween yet so thats odd. Even if you live in another contry!

Just tell them "I'm very sorry, sweeties, but unfortunately I've run out of candy."

Be polite, and remember: a little sugar in your reply takes away the sting of disapointment.

when they say trick or treat - instead of saying treat - say trick - you may have to put up with some nasty stuff but its your fault for not getting enough candy!!!
