Chicken soup/broth, sinus decongestant, Theracold (look for ingredients - you don't want to double anything up, of course), humidifier, some type of anti-inflammatory (I like Aleve's generic), etc. Plenty of rest and warm fluids (teas or even hot water with lemon and honey in it)...a good book and several loyal dogs and a clump of cute kittens that sit on your chest and purr! (That does interfere with your book, to a certain degree!)

I don't generally get colds any more since I started taking a good mulitvitamin and a good antioxidant supplement many years ago. If by chance I do get one it is gone in no time. Start on this routine to help build your immune system up. In the meantime if you feel a cold coming on get some zinc lozenges or the strip that quick dissolve and use those as directed.

Eat a clove of garlic, I know it sounds gross!! But it works!! And if you can't stomach just the garlic, slice up an apple and cut up your garlic into two or three pieces and eat them together!! I've used this method and have done the same with my children. Even other members of my family have done this to get rid of a cold. Helps with the flu too, but I recommend eating it the first sign of your body feeling weird, it works faster that way!

I always make myself some hot tea and I put a teaspoon of honey in it. When its too hot to drink I put my face over the cup and inhale the steam. Its really soothing and it clears up my stuffy nose. When I drink it, it soothes my throat and the honey makes it easier to swallow. I also sleep with a Vick's vaporizer and sometimes I put Vick's cream under my nose and on my chest. The number one thing that makes me all better is my Nana she takes care of me and you dont have her so it might take you longer to get over a cold.
