Arial, it's universal, yet pleasent with it's rounded edges.
Size depends on the application, 12-14 usually.
As a runner up, I had a font on my old computer called "kidz" it was fun and different yet still easy to read.

I like Jester in 24 point. It's great for making my printed grocery lists! Other than that, I generally use an Ariel 12.
