It is an illusion that there are races. The diversity of human beings is so great and so complicated that it is impossible to classify the 5.5 billions of individuals into discrete "races". From America or any other country.
Some of our physical differences give the impression that it is possible to divide us into races. But when these physical characteristics are subjected to detailed study, that cannot be concluded at all. Instead it becomes obvious that our physical diversity reflects continuous changes from one extreme to the other of the continents. To place any boundaries within this continuous diversity would be, therefore, completely arbitrary. Human diversity is in fact infinitely more complicated than the idea we have constructed of it. This is why attempts to make racial classifications don't yield any coherent results; there is nothing scientific about "races". The science of genetics teaches us that it is impossible to attribute physical resemblance to genetic resemblance.

It's probably safe to say that almost every human being on Earth is mixed from different races. It all goes back to Adam and Eve though. we are all related. That is why the bible calls us brothers and sisters. If we could all remember that it would be a better world.

A large percent of white people are a mix of different european countries. I have heard that people in other countries where the gene pool is still more "pure" often reffer to Americans as mutts because of our extensive cross breeding. I can not verify that this is true, but I heard it. So take that for whatever you will.

most anthropologists are now saying that there is no such thing as race, at least as we have previously described it. go to the american anthropological association website and you can read their official statement. so i guess to your question, yes we are mixed in that the things that we use to determine race don't actually effectively separate groups of people.

How "pure" are any of us? During research in to my family tree, we found French, Scottish, Welsh and Irish blood. Being "English", there are probably several Germanic strains in there anyway.

I believe whether you are Canadian or American and if we check far enough back in our family trees, you will in fact find that we are all of mixed race.

No, the majority according to the 2000 census are still caucasion, approx. 65% I believe. That said, with the present rate of immigration, that percentage will continue to decline significantly.
