The line looks as if it is only on the grass. It never shows up on the players as they play over the line, like a light would.

There are monkey's that are trained to hold a yellow brush and a green brush. The one they have to use goes in the painting hand, the other they hold with their tail. They are very fast and are able to paint the field so fast you never notice them when watching TV. I think the computer stuff everybody was talking about above is what they do when one of the monkey's isn't quite fast enough. If the monkey is on the field when the play starts, they can get trampled and it can be very gruesome. This is when they use the digital editing so that you don't see the poor monkey.

computers.....its usually not on the players because that yellow line is for the viewers at home and not on the field.....the players know where the first down is by looking at the yard sticks with the chains

the yellow line fairy runs down the sideline and waves a magic wand every time they make a first down. if you pay close attention you can see it, every now and then.
