If I really had to choose I would say Seattle because I hear Boston is very prejudiced and they discrimate towards African Americans a lot. Also, the city of Seattle is prettier than Boston. But Seattle has a long rainy season so that can be depressing too.

I've lived in the Boston area my whole life. I love almost everything about the area. The negatives are

1) Cold winters with nowhere to put the snow (in the city).
2) Awful Train system and T system and no way to really fix it.
3) Awful traffic (though it's still better than a lot of other cities)
4) Everywhere within a 60 mile radius of Boston is expensive as all hell with the possible exception of the slummy worcester area.

The positives are

countless

Personally, because living expenses as high as they are, I'm planning on moving to Washington state in January

Well I live in Seattle and granted I have never been to Boston, though I have always wanted to visit. I have lived on the east coast and been to Philly and D.C. and New York and I really liked the east coast. So if I had the choice, I would rent the moving truck and start packing my boxes tonight.

It depends on what you like to do. Seattle has great for outdoor activities. And, Boston is great for the ''more cultural things''.
