The Breakfast Club has been my favourite movie ever since I saw it years ago. Personally no other "teen movies" compare to this one. I think I relate with Ally Sheedy's character, Allison, however my favourite character would have to be John. Judd Nelson did an amazing job in this role and I believe he was the most convincing out of all of them (even though they all did an amazing job).

John Hughes has been underrated. During the mid 1980's he had an unequalled talent for defining and celebrating the tastes of a generation of youth, in such a way that the Hughes movies (Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science, Pretty in Pink, and especially The Breakfast Club) did for the mid 1980's what Alice's Restaurant and Easy Rider did for the late 1960's, or what Singles did for the early 1990's. This goes in particular for The Breakfast Club.

This movie is filled with some of the most hilarious and memorable dialogue to come out of the 80's teen genre. Some of the catchy lines from this film are still in use today, often by kids who probably have no idea that they originated here. John Bender, the "criminal", in particular, really steals the show.

The Breakfast Club also gets mass coolness points for portraying, in apparent approval, teens smoking marijuana in the school library, and this right in the midst of the 1980's anti-drug hysteria. The way it portrays youth solidarity is also notable: The kids argue with and even seem to hate each other at times, but whenever the dean of students appears they suddenly bend over backwards to cover for each other.

All in all, although underrated when it first came out, this film is a classic and may be destined to be remembered as one of the quintessential films of the 80's. Long after the garbage from the same era like Top Gun has been forgotten, The Breakfast Club will be watched for years to come as a definitive 80's movie.

I first saw the movie last year in my sociology class. After a few days of being told how great it was by a few friends, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't what I thought it would be, but that could also go hand-in-hand with the fact that, with class length only 45 minutes long, having a 25-hour break inbetween sections threw it off as well. The character that stands out most in my mind is the "outcast" girl who sqeaked a lot. I can't remember her name...

Yea, I do. It reminds me every time how much I missed my High School years and wished things would have been more fun and different compared what I went through or start over as a young kid again. They were all good characters. It sucks to get older, I certainly don't want to end up like an old folk in a old folk home. I hope I died before that time comes.

HELLS YES!
The Breakfast Club is my all time favorite move. I love the eniter cast but, most of all Andrew. The Jock who wants to be accepted by his peers and parents. He isn't rude or brainless. Just not taken as seriously as he would like.
I even used his "You wanna know why I'm here today" monologue to get into colleges for Theater.
"YOU GOTTA BE NUMBER 1!"

Yes. I like all the characters, they bring the movie all together. It shows you that every one has drama in their lives. They may look a certain way and all come from different walks of life but that one Sat, morning they all came together. I like when Molly Ringwald gave Judd Nelson one of her diamond earrings.

I love this movie, somehow the story was a little boring but you know what, when you think of it, this movie was like a reality show that could have been call "one day at school". Everyone of us could recognize ourselves and/or our friends in one of the caracters and I think that 's what make this movie interesting.
My favorite one was Judd Nelson (don't remember the caracter's name).

Yeah, this movie is a classic, and it's one i saw as a kid, so it's always gonna have a place in my memory.

Andrew 'Andy' Clark - Emilio Estevez's character was my favorite, but probably just because it's Emilio, and he's just cool =)
