The word solipsism (Latin: solus, alone + ipse, self) is used for two related yet distinct concepts:

An epistemological position that one's own perceptions are the only things that can be known with certainty. The nature of the external world — that is, the source of one's perceptions — therefore cannot be conclusively known; it may not even exist. This is also called external world skepticism.

A metaphysical belief that the universe is entirely the creation of one's own mind. Thus, in a sense, the belief that nothing 'exists' outside of one's own mind.

basically it can be said they don't trust anything but their own experiences sounds as though they are a little self centered doesn't it? if you go by the first definition wanting others to know the reality of the solipsist would freely discuss themselves with others.

I am not a solipsist...but I would imagine.. because...although everything is in your mind...not everything is under your control...Therefore, if someone asks you this, you assume...this imaginary person doesn't know....so its fun to argue or talk to them....to feel like your helping...and think about it...this is what non-solipsists do...they don't answer you just to answer you...they do it cuz they are bored...or want to feel like helping...or feel like argueing...

It doesn't really matter if your a frieken robot, human or a random figment of their imagination...its still fun to answer pointless questions and quarrel..and go on a random site such as yahoo to ask questions and use up your time so that you can feel like you have a purpose to an otherwise, pointless life....(its the drive to live...not saying you have nothing else to do but go on the internet).

...to share with other entities, who are closed from the mind hive....the wealth and wisdom of the mind hive...is an integrating and fulfilling experience...as you fulfill, an opposite and equal fullfillment is instilled on the fullfiller, given 'he'..is of a lucid and discerning mind...

Because he knows it is ineffable nonsense? Why would a creationist/intelligent designer bother to explain their position? I could go on in this vein forever, but you get the point.

Because it is all about him, and his philosophy, and by explaining what that is, he is proving that it is real, and true. To him this is scientific proof that can be confirmed.

I don't know why I'm bothering to answer this, as I am a solipsist.

As I believe the universe exists only in my own mind, you are therefore a figment of my imagination, I am talking to myself and, as such, why should I explain my philosophy to you (me) as I already know what it is.
