The on-line calulator, says my daughter and I may qualify for food stamps of app. $60. to $75. a month. Do you think it would be worth the trouble of doing the paper work, waiting in line and all that for $60. to $75. dollars a month in food stamps?

The on-line calculator is designed to calculate to the lowest possible allowance,if you go and sign up you may receive a little more. Since this is money to feed you and your child so the other money you may have from work, child support, student loans, etc. is freed up to reapply to things like bills and maybe even a winter coat and blankets. Yes, it is worth it. You may also check into volunteering at local food banks to get additional groceries which is especially helpful as the holidays approach and friends unaware of your situation invite you to a potluck or surprise you at suppertime and you feel obliged to feed them as they have been so helpful.

If you don't think it would be worth the hassel or wait in line to get that much in food stamps, maybe you don't need them and should just let someone get them that does and would appreciate that amount. There are people out there that would be thrilled to get that much a month because they can't afford to buy food after they spend their entire income for their medicine and can't afford to eat.

Comes down to whether it's a necessity issue. If your income is unlikely to increase, you would be wise to stand in the line and apply for assistance.
