I think it's the Exorcist. I have never seen a movie that even comes close. I still won't watch it alone.....

I agree. the Exorcist.

However, Nightmare on Elm Street is the best concept for a scary movie.

But The Exorcist all the way!

Best horror movie director? Hmmmm, Stanley Kubrick, Hitchcock, Tobe Hooper, Takashi Shimizu, and haha Sam Raimi. Personally, Insidious scared the crap out of me...but I think it's bc I had a Shtriga haunt me as a child. I also like Alien, Aliens, The Grudge, and The Ring. But NOTHING has ever scared me like Insidious. This isn't to mention the thousands of Korean and Asian horror movies I've seen. Just because they're subtitled doesn't mean they're no good. I would venture to say that the Asians have the Americans cornered on horror. Oh, and Lake Mungo is a little known Aussie film that I found both frightening and fascinating. Check it out if you get a chance. ;)

Probably Psycho. Not the remake the old black and white version. I think the old classics are much better than some of the newer movies. I also really liked The Amityville Horror, The Ring, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Rosemary's Baby.

You are half- right, 'imy man on the exorcisT. There,s the other where fear or sumthing with no shadows.. it took half the day and ruled in some parts of the world. It was chasing and cl;awing and crackling(in laufter) in the chase for the victrim. I don't think its me..But the ending was a near death - classic. It concluded with the drowning,..ops no NEarly drowned scene of the poor victimm, only could see the tip of the nose in the surface top of the cess-pool.. There's some bubbling i did see?...As for the title, i am still coming up with one aand stay tuned- in to it bcos it will be awesome, and rated P.G

This question gets posted somewhere on Yahoo Answers rather frequently but I can not recall whether you have posted it before.

My favorite horror movie was and still is The Thing. Back when we were kids in the early '50s me and my brother and our cousins would go see that movie. And then go home and sit on the back porch at night and tell ghost stories and just scare ourselves crazy. That was over fifty years ago. My Brother and one of the cousins are gone now. Any mention of horror movies always brings back that precious time.

Definitely The Exorcist. I also found the first "Halloween" movie really scary, but that may just be me.

The best to me is Stephen King's The Stand, it's just my favorite. But the one that scared me the most was The Grudge - and I still have to go see the second one! I'm a sucker for a good scare :)
