Are they really relying on God to fix everything and do everything? Or, are they strong in their faith and believe that if it is his will, and they pray enough about it, it will be done? (to put it simply).

I don't know the answer about that. When I see a question that's really slanted, like why do people live together before they marry for example- and the opinion is already that it's bad I don't think if only that person weren't religious! I just think that we're dealing with someone whose mind is not open to all considerations on the matter, and is strong in his/her convictions. It's sad, however, that these questions are posted and the person is not in any way interested in being persuaded- it's more of a condemnation, which is not what I think you should be doing in this forum.

So, in a way your question and position is no better than those that the "holy bible bashers" are taking. They have a right to think what they want; the only problem is that some of them behave in ways that are against the teachings of their religion, which is ironic, I think.

In the end, we won't know who was right until we're dead. If you're right and God can do nothing for anyone, and can't fix everything, then good for you. If you're wrong though, I guess you might have something to worry about.

LOL. I am a christian myself, but I have to agree to an extent with your statement.

My beliefs were not meant to stop me from trying to make myself better or trying to fix the situation. No, I will not stop believing that God will provide or that God will hear my call. But it doesn't mean that I will be so lazy as to sit and wait for an answer doing nothing when I can try to work things out to improve my situation too. Example, if I am having a financial problem, I don't just pray and wait for money to fall. I pray and I work hard and when God answers I act accordingly. And yes, I believe God answers prayers. There has been many times when I am completely stuck on a situation and things just work out after praying for help. It may take awhile, it may take a short time but He answers and sometimes the answer is No.

Jesus is not my problem-fixer. He's my friend. It's a relationship. God didn't say be complacent and do nothing. God said trust in Him and He will guide me. I know that no matter how stuck I am I can turn to Him. But it doesn't mean I'm suppose to let Him do what I should do for myself. Another example, if I'm addicted to drinking and I want to stop, I don't pray for an exorcism. I stop drinking.

God can do everything, but we have to play our own part and stand in His kingdom. Not sit and do nothing.

Your question covers a lot of territory and does not represent the interpretation or belief of all Christians. We should rely on God to give us the wisdom and instruction necessary to live a good, productive life. I rely on God for everything I do, but I still have to live up to my part of the deal. Scripture says, "Faith without works is dead!" (Jas. 2:26). There are many scriptures that require us to do our part. But there are situations that we have no choice but rely on God and God alone. There is supposed to be a BALANCE of faith and works. God gave us a body, mind and soul. It was obviously not His intent for us to sit by idly and do nothing. You will find in most/all religions where beliefs/interpretations are taken to the extreme. Most do so unknowingly and with a sincere heart. With that being said, I believe it would be a safe bet for me to continue to rely on God for direction in all that I do ...... NMT

Life is a series of steps or stages. As young adults we feel that it is weak for us to depend upon a God we no longer remember or feel connected to. We take pride in making reasonable decisions that we also look upon as reliable. Things seem to work. But it takes more years of living to discover that each decision, in time, finally brought us another problem to solve. If you haven't lived through several decades or more, you aren't able to see the pattern of decision making and its results. Since life requires one decision after another, it takes time to begin to see the pattern form. It takes a critical eye.

This is how it works: We make a decision and are pleased with it. It solves the problem, or enables the course we are upon to improve. We are pleased. For some time, we feel that our reasoning and logic is sound - results prove that is so. Suddenly, down the line, we find the next problem arising, but do not connect it to the decision we made back some time ago. The new problem to be solved, or difficulty, seems to us to be a separate thing from past decisions something quite on its own. But, you see, decisions are roads. Which road to take? Do I turn right, or turn left, or go straight ahead? You don't want the Cheshire Cat " From Alice in Wonderland" to point the direction, do you? Well, the human mind is a bit confused - like the Cheshire Cat who was seldom "all together!" This is a complex world and things unexpected constantly arise. Also this world is a school for lessons in living. You are meant to be learning about life, about your Self, and about what you truly need.

Life becomes a series (as we move along) of choices about the next road to go down. What you are suppose to learn is that you prefer, most of all, the peace, unlimited-ness and lack of opposition, as well as the support of the One Mind that is your heritage as a Child of God.

In physical life you are without your Father. So He gave to you the Holy Spirit who resides in your Mind, and Jesus as a Teacher for you.

It was said in church that God always leads us in the direction that we don't want to go in. Can't live your life trying to fix things on your own, you and all of us being responsible. Is knowing that we have a problem and not being afraid to seek out help and ask for it.

Why Not!

Some people have nothing but hope to get them thru it all.

Why judge them, its not like your forced to believe, or are you just angry with god?

You need to take responsibility for your actions, deeds, and intentions.
