Isn't it an amazing movie?

Yes it was! Paul Scofield was terrific. I can't remember whether he got and Oscar for that role or not...? But it was a fantastically understated, nuanced performance. I haven't seen it in about 10 years and now I want to again. How many movies do you see that address the question of doing what you know to be the right thing when that carries great risk? And simple as that question seems, of course it isn't, because those you have responsibility for and those you love are affected by your decision. Also that your strategic choices must be weighed against your gut sense of what you ought to do, which is a judgment call that is always much easier to make when it isn't staring you in the face.

I can't add anything to what has already been said about A Man for All Seasons. Unquestionably one of the greatest films of all time, and stands the test of time. It will be revered as a great film 100 years from now. Will Lebowski? Doubt it. Winner of nearly every award it was nominated for. Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Screenplay, etc. One of the few movies that makes my whole being vibrate when I watch it. I am moved to tears in almost every scene because the scene is executed so perfectly.

Funnily enough, never seen the film, but I saw the play recently and it was superb. I can well imagine that Paul Scholfield and Robert Shaw are excellent in the film.

Yep, I had to watch it at University for my history degree. It was good but i think having to sit in a cold lecture hall at 7:00 at night when i could have been down the pub with my friends kind of spoilt it a bit for me!!!
