1'm 5 mos and have only gained 3lbs (this is third preg.) but I look like i'm gaining weight Or should I say filling out. I look like i'm gaining weight people have commented on it then I tell em that i have only put on 3 pounds. I'm still wearing the same jeans I did before I got pregnant. I have no cravings.....and for sometime I barely ate at all due to food aversions(which I still have jsut not as bad) Anyone else have this? I'm concerned that maybe I havent feed this kid enough.

The baby usually dont start gaining weight themselves until the last trimester. (My doctor told me this). I personally lost 15 lbs during my first and second trimester. I did not start showing until I was well into my 6 month of prengnacy. Some doctors say it is best to keep the weight down during your pregnancy because it will help with the swelling during your last trimester. You should have nothing to worry about. Since you are 5 months you still have plenty of time to get those cravings going and gaining that weight. (congrats)

My friend just had a baby six months ago. During her whole pregnancy, she only gained 12 lbs. She had a healthy 6 lb 13 oz baby. The nutrition will go to the baby before it goes to you. Has your doctor said anything? Try eating more balanced meals, spaced throughout the day. I gained 60 lbs with first baby, and 45 with second The second was premature.

i only gained four with my son. my obgyn was surprised, but it does happen. i have a very high metabolism and had a lot of weight from a previous pregnancy, and she said that i was probably burning off what i was putting in, between me and the baby anyway. if you and your doc are really concerned you should have an ultrasound coming up, chekc the baby's size then. it should put your worries to rest. just remember to take your prenatal and to make whatever food you eat count that much more.

If your doc isn't worried, you shouldn't be either. Babies are pretty good little parasites, so as long as you're consuming a bare minimum of 1700 calories (pretty easy),taking your pre-natals & aren't anemic, chances are really good that your baby is fine.
Ironically, my smallest weight gain (16 lbs) gave me my biggest baby (7.5 lbs), while my biggest weight gain (60 lbs) gave me my smallest baby (6lbs, 5 oz), so don't put too much stock in your own weight gain, it doesn't necessarily reflect on the baby.

3lbs..?? that to me doesnt sound normal at all thats not enough lbs for the baby & you have to also consider the uterus, placenta, amniotic fluid & other natural things that occur that weigh sumthing, ive been to alot of websites plus talked to doctors & 20lbs or more should be gained, im surprised your doctor isnt concerned u should ask him about this next time u have an appointment,

That sounds very odd, have you talked to your ob/gyn? If not please do! Are you throwing up a lot? I don't understand why you have not gained any weight? I actually had a friend who had the same issue, she ended up giving birth at five or six months. Please get to your doc asap! Good Luck!
